Mike McCarthy is throwing a flag on this hot mic moment with Aaron Rodgers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers coach apologized for having a heated exchange with the quarterback during their Oct. 1 game against the Cleveland Browns.
“Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but everybody’s competing on the field,” he said during a press conference after the Steelers’ 27-24 loss. “I think what’s said on the field, the way I grew up in this game, usually stays on the field. That’s not the case today. I understand that.”
During the first quarter of the game, Rodgers was seen gesturing at the sideline and heard yelling, “What the f–k? Call it!” In response, McCarthy appeared to be muttering, “F–king a–hole.” But the frustration between Rodgers and McCarthy seemed to subside later in the game, when the NFL star earned a pat on his helmet after running a quarterback sneak in the fourth quarter.
