As cameras rolled on Earle Meets World, the family was navigating more than just relationship rumors and feud speculation.
Months after Alix Earle and Ashtin Earle’s mom Alisa Maniaci was diagnosed with breast cancer, the sisters got tested for the BRCA2 gene.
“Of course, we wanna hope for the best,” Alix, 25, said in a confessional, “but you can’t help but fear for the worst.”
Before learning the results, the trio sat down with genetic counselor Pankti Doshi, who explained her method for sharing the information with them.
“My whole thing is to just rip the Band-Aid and get the results out,” Pankti began, before continuing, “You both did test positive for the genetic change in BRCA2.”
Hearing the outcome, Alisa apologized to her daughters, believing she passed the gene down to them.
“No, don’t say sorry,” Alix told Alisa, while Ashtin, 23, assured their mom as they all grew tearful, “It’s OK.”
