Oscar and Emmy winner Melissa Leo has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax’s action-thriller “Supermax,” starring Will Smith.
“Supermax” is currently in production in New South Wales, Australia, with Gordon Green (“Halloween”) directing from a script by David Weil and David J. Rosen (“Hunters,” “Invasion”). In May, Amazon MGM acquired the worldwide rights to the movie from Miramax for $70 million, with the film slated for release on Prime Video.
Leo’s acclaimed filmography is highlighted by her Oscar-winning performance in David O. Russell’s “The Fighter,” plus a nomination for “Frozen River.” On TV, Leo won an Emmy for her work on FX’s “Louie.” She was previously nominated for HBO’s “Mildred Pierce” and “All The Way.” Leo’s resume also includes “King Ivory,” “The Knife,” “Prisoners,” “The Equalizer,” “Novitiate,” “I Know This Much Is True” and “I’m Dying Up Here.”
