Black Bear’s period comedy “Wicker,” directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson and starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage, and Elizabeth Debicki, clinched the top spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office, debuting at No. 1 with £1.76 million ($2.34 million).

The film narrowly edged A24’s psychological thriller “Primetime,” directed by Lance Oppenheim and starring Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers, which opened in second position by a razor-thin margin of just £10,141, collecting £1.75 million ($2.33 million).

Outside the top ten, Mubi’s specialty drama “Fatherland” held firmly in the top 15 during its second weekend, taking $143,327 over the three-day frame to push its cumulative gross to $808,453. The result saw the film overtake “Ida” to become director Paweł Pawlikowski’s second highest-grossing release of all time in the U.K. and Ireland, behind only his 2018 title “Cold War.”

Specialized, festival, and international titles debuting Friday include A24’s comedy “Misty Green,” directed by and starring Chris Rock alongside Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, and Anna Kendrick across 25+ locations; Netflix’s biographical drama “Avedon”; Trinity Filmed Entertainment’s crime drama “Traces of Justice,” directed by Chen Sicheng; BaldaFilm’s “Manipulation”; Screenbound Pictures’ drama “Amazing Grace,” directed by Ruth Carney; Central City Media’s re-release of Zhang Yimou’s classic “Raise the Red Lantern,” starring Gong Li; Altitude’s acclaimed Spanish title “La Bola Negra”; Tull Stories’ drama “Think of England,” directed by Richard Hawkins; and Dogwoof’s documentary “One In A Million”. The weekend wraps on Saturday 7 November with Trafalgar Releasing’s live concert viewing of “Stray Kids World Tour ‘Run It’”.
